1. What was your first exposure to Donna?
Growing up pretty much all I cared about was reading and playing instruments, and in middle school this fucking incredible music teacher made pursuing all that I wanted to in music possible for me. Seventh grade she hooked me on Sondheim— which eventually lead to her giving me the cast recording of Passion to analyze the score, transcribe some pieces myself etc. It was pretty fucking easily the best thing I’d ever heard and Donna Murphy was instantly my favorite actress (supplanting my girl Julie Andrews even), the kind of unshakable regal demeanor, the depth of her lower register, the empathy of her interpretation. So much adoration.
